Volunteer

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.
                                           1 Peter 4:10

How Can You Get Involved?

Many lives are enriched through the work of volunteers.  Many organizations, including the church, could not function without the talents, time and contributions of volunteers.  With the help of many hands, the load is lightened.
Committees
The ongoing work of the congregation is undertaken by a number of volunteer committees and groups, each of which needs sitting members, as well as volunteers.  For more information go to Council and C
ommittees.
  •  Worship
  • Trustees
  • Mission Outreach & StewardShip (MOSS)
MOSS is responsible for fundraising within HTU. It also schedules volunteers to set up refreshments for fellowship time following the Sunday service. (Coffee, tea and sugar are provided). Sign up sheets are located in the Fellowship Hall.  The first Sunday of the month is birthday Sunday, sponsored by 3 dedicated HTU members. Regular MOSS meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday in the month.
  • Pastoral Care
  • Policies and Procedures
Works to keep up-to-date the Policies and Procedures necessary to support the ministry and building of Holy Trinity United Church.

Choir
At this time, while not having formal practices, the choir remains an active part of the service. New voices are always welcome to join. Should you have any questions, contact the church office by email or by phone at 705-848-3560.

Communion
The sacrament of holy communion takes place throughout the church year. Volunteers are needed to help prepare the serving trays on the morning of Communion Sundays. They are needed to collect the used glasses for disposal and wash and dry the communion trays after the service. This is a job which most people don’t even think about but is a ministry which is essential to our Christian worship. Servers are also required to assist in the sharing of the elements of Holy Communion.  The Worship Committee oversees these ministries.

Fellowship and Coffee Hour
Following the service coffee hour is held in the Fellowship Hall.  This is an important time to meet in a social setting with members of the congregation.  This requires the help of volunteers to prepare and set up. Sign-up sheets are posted on the door to the kitchen.

  • Property
Works to keep the building and grounds beautiful and in good repair.  Volunteers are scheduled to shovel sidewalks in the winter, and cut grass and maintain the flowerbeds during the summer months.  There are also many projects during the year that require assistants and assistance.

  • Holy Trinity Friendship Group
The UCW and AOTS groups at HtU have merged to form the HTU Friendship Group open to all church members

Christmas Bazaar
This bazaar is usually held on the third Saturday of November.  This is a Holy Trinity Friendship Group undertaking. Many donations will be requested through the bulletins in October and November.  Donations are needed for the bake and craft tables and tea tables.  Help is needed for decorating, table set up, serving and clean-up.

Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall Decorating

Volunteers are needed to help decorate the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall for special occasions such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter and other special events. This includes setting up and cleaning up after any events.

Ushers and Greeters
Do you like to meet new people? You may want to consider being an usher or greeter.  Our ushers and greeters provide a warm welcome and distribute bulletins and name tags to all who attend Sunday worship.   Everyone is welcome to participate!

Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank
Holy Trinity is one of the local churches that supplies volunteers to man the  Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank (ELEFB).
